Unsupported ReShade/custom runtime prevents launch
A custom graphics runtime such as ReShade can be relevant to an LMU early-launch failure, but its presence must be confirmed before changing files.
Checks and expected results
Before you repair it
- Record the full launch error, including 0xc000007b if shown.
- Check the LMU application directory for the specific custom runtime installed with the graphics add-on.
- Close LMU and preserve recovery copies before temporarily disabling only the identified add-on files.
How to confirm the result
Relaunch with the custom runtime disabled. If startup is unchanged, restore the backup and investigate the remaining evidence.
Repair limits and when to stop
The error code alone does not identify ReShade. Do not remove arbitrary DLLs, use third-party DLL downloads, or replace Windows runtime files.
How PitMedic recognizes it
Early launch failure or 0xc000007b plus ReShade/custom graphics runtime files in the LMU application directory.

0xc000007bReShadedxgi.dlld3d11.dll
Built-in response
Create a recovery backup and temporarily disable only the detected ReShade/custom runtime files, then retest. Never delete them without a recovery copy.

Current official guidance states ReShade is unsupported and can prevent LMU from launching; 0xc000007b can be caused by incompatible local runtime files.
