iRacing
Repeated 0xc0000005 / Windows application access-violation failure
A repeatable iRacing application fault may justify Windows integrity checks only after more specific causes have been considered. The exception code alone does not prove Windows corruption.
Checks and expected results
Before you repair it
- Record the faulting application, module, exception code, and timestamp from the matching Windows Application event.
- Check for a more specific iRacing content, service, graphics-driver, or temperature-related finding first.
- Review the Windows-wide scope and administrator prompt before approving DISM followed by SFC.
How to confirm the result
Read the reported DISM and SFC results, restart if instructed, and retest the same session. Completed scans are not proof that iRacing has been fixed.
Repair limits and when to stop
These commands affect Windows and require explicit approval. Driver replacement, RAM testing, and reinstalling iRacing remain separate investigations; do not repeatedly run system repairs for an unrelated launcher connection reset.
How PitMedic recognizes it
Windows/iRacing records a repeatable application fault or 0xc0000005 without a more specific content, driver, thermal, or service signature.

Built-in response
With explicit approval, run DISM /RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow. Driver reinstall, RAM testing, and full iRacing reinstall remain separate/manual because they are broader actions.
A launcher connection reset is not a cache diagnosis

Test setup
Synthetic iRacing evidence used the iracing-electron logger with ECONNRESET, both alone and following an application fault.
Observed result
The connection-reset-only case produced no repair. With an application fault, it retained the approval-gated Windows-integrity plan instead of substituting a UI-cache reset. Saved and reconstructed plans agreed.
What this establishes
This verifies repair selection, not that Windows was corrupt or that running a repair would solve a real crash.
Verification sources
PitMedic prioritizes vendor documentation and labels community findings separately.

Current official guidance starts with Windows updates, DISM /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow, then recommends RAM/graphics-driver checks and reinstall if needed.
