A numbered track loading error needs the exact code and installation type. Steam Error 49 and direct-install updater failures do not use the same recovery path.

Before you repair it

  • Record the complete loading error, track layout, car, and whether the installation is managed by Steam.
  • Try the same car at another track to see whether the failure follows the track.
  • Close iRacing and preserve track index metadata before the supported reset or validation.

How to confirm the result

Complete Steam validation or the direct iRacing update, then retry the original track and layout. Check that the exact loading error has cleared.

Repair limits and when to stop

The current built-in strategy resets track index metadata; automatic parsing of an exact track folder is not promised here. Do not delete all tracks or assume every loading error is track corruption.
