Checks and expected results

Before you repair it

  • Write down the exact car and the screen or session that fails.
  • Try another car using the same track or viewer to check whether the problem is isolated.
  • Close iRacing and keep a backup before replacing the identified car content through the updater.

How to confirm the result

After the affected content downloads again, open the same car in the viewer and repeat the failing session. Confirm other installed cars still work.

Repair limits and when to stop

A shared cars.dat reset is broader and needs evidence that several vehicles are affected. Do not remove all cars, paints, or setups for an isolated failure.

How PitMedic recognizes it

Specific car data fails in the UI/3D viewer while other content works.

Signals PitMedic may recognize

  • car data
  • 3D model
  • cars.dat

Built-in response

Back up then remove only the affected car content and let iRacing redownload it; broader cars.dat reset only when multiple vehicles are affected.
